Term Classes

For the novice and experienced woodworker

• Term times roughly coincide with the Department of Education school terms and are nine weeks long with one three hour class per week.

• There are three groups available: Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening and Thursday evening. (scroll down to see more details about each group)

• Like all of the classes we will focus on traditional techniques using hand tools wherever practical.

• Class size is limited to 9 with 2 instructors.

• No experience necessary.

• Sign up for a term of 9 x 3 hour classes.

• Wood is provided for beginner set projects. For more advanced projects, you can provide your own wood or we can source it for you for a small fee.

• All tools and equipment provided but you are welcome to bring along your own hand tools.

• Work at your own pace.

• Option to re-enrol at the end of each term.

Tuesday morning group

The Tuesday class is an open format.

If you are just starting out we will guide you through a series of set projects designed to introduce you to the fundamental tools and techniques.

With more experience you can progress to a number of more complex set projects like the butlers’ ladder, the bread box, the saw bench and lots more.

If you’re ready for it, we will help you design and make your own project (subject to our agreement regarding size and complexity).

Term 4 : October 13 - December 8

Wednesday evening group

The Wednesday class has the same format and details as Tuesday.

Time:

6:00pm - 9:00pm

Term 1 : February 4 - April 1

Term 2 : April 22 - June 17

Term 3 : July 22 - September 16

Term 4 : October 14 - December 9

Cost:

Thursday evening group

On Thursday evenings the whole class works on the same set project. We will start with a discussion of the techniques, methods and tools for the project then guide you step by step through the entire process.

Everyone works at their own pace and there is no pressure to “keep up”. If you find yourself streaking ahead we will provide extra projects to do until we are all ready to start the next major project.
